Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK, 24 June 2010: Megahertz (MHz), an international independent systems integrator, announced it has designed and provided the engineering planning to the Narne Group for its recent file-based 24-hour English news channel. These facilities, based in Hyderabad, include a single studio with production control room, a master control room and a central apparatus room housing the entire infrastructure requirements for the news channel. This installation was completed in association with MHz’s local partner, Shaf Broadcast Pvt. Ltd, an established supplier of solutions to the digital content creation industry in India.
Designed to provide enhanced workflow efficiencies, the facility incorporates a GVG Kayak DD2 production switcher, five Sony CCU-D50 cameras, VizRT graphics, Evertz multiviewers and routers as well as Omneon playout servers.
“Megahertz won this design project because it has a proven track record not only for the design and build of high-quality file-based solutions for international news operations but for harnessing the benefits of these new workflows to meet the business demands,” said P.R. Suresh, Director, Shaf Broadcast Pvt. Ltd. “The Narne Group was keen to build a state-of-the-art facility that utilised the best products available whilst maximising cost efficiencies — and Megahertz was the natural choice of design partner on this project.”
“There has been an upsurge of new news channels across India in recent months and MHz wanted to support Narne’s drive to design a new, state-of-the-art, file-based solution that would provide its news audience with an excellent viewing experience,” said Robert Stopford, Sales Director at Megahertz. “Our proven international systems integration expertise — supported by our local Indian partner, Shaf Broadcast — has led us to deliver turnkey installations at some of the largest news facilities in India including Mahaa TV and Time Group India.”
